Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and the team entered the 2026 NBA playoffs hoping for another deep postseason run. Instead, their season ended in the second round at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs, who won the series in six games and advanced behind the emergence of Victor Wembanyama. Minnesota's task became significantly more difficult because of injuries. Guard Donte DiVincenzo suffered a torn right Achilles tendon during the first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, ending his postseason and potentially impacting the start of next season. In that same game, Edwards hyperextended his left knee and suffered a bone bruise after his knee buckled awkwardly while contesting a shot. The injury initially sparked major concern inside the Timberwolves organization. Fortunately for Minnesota, scans revealed no structural damage, and the All-Star guard worked aggressively to return to the floor. With the offseason now underway for Minnesota, The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski reported that Edwards' recovery and growth will be crucial for the team's future success.
